Israel joins the world wide momentum of cycling. Informal estimates count about 100,000 on-road and off-road
cyclists in Israel. Of these, only about 1,700 cyclists participate regularly in formal competitive events;
a small percentage are commuters and the rest ride for fun, exploring the nature of the holy land on side-roads
and off -road trails.
